During the summer, I asked my youth pastor if I could speak about a topic that had been on my heart and mind for a very long time. That topic was God's grace. It has always seemed so amazing that no matter what we do as human beings--good or bad--God never loves us less and he never ceases to forgive us.

This past Wednesday, I got to share this message. I was so excited to be able to talk about what God was speaking to me about. God's grace truly is breathtaking!

Isaiah 53:3-6

"3 He [Jesus] was despised and rejected—a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief. We turned our backs on him and looked the other way. He was despised, and we did not care.
4 Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins!

5 But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.
6 All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all."

I have read Isaiah 53 and memorized it in King James Version, quoting it over and over again. But after reading this passage in a different translation (New Living Translaton), I saw it in a whole new light. Things that I never understood about this passage have now made sense and it is so cool!
